The Machars

The Machars Area Partnership is supported by a Community Health Development Worker and two Community Health Support Workers. The Partnership identifies and tackles local community health issues in the ethos of equality and equal opportunites to all individuals in the community.
Area Partnership members are representative of local agencies, oganisations or community groups where they can participate in decision making at local level. While they represent the views of the community they are also responsible for supporting the development of community led initiatives. Area Partnership members may also be volunteers who have progressed through the programme and are offered training opportunities in partnership working skills.
Community Health Volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and volunteer for a number of reasons. They therefore offer a wealth of experiences and understanding to others in similar circumstances.
